I visited this salon.Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing.
I had known the designer name but I don’t want to mention.
The staff member was quite rough throughout the process—pulling me into a rigid sitting position and handling my head with little care. When I asked for my bangs to be cut thick, she also trimmed the side hair unintentionally. I specifically requested the back to be cut down to chest level, but they went far shorter, cutting up to the nape.
What made the experience worse was the way the designer spoke to me. When she washing my hair, she blamed me for not washing my hair every day, saying things like, “Your scalp will get oily,” “Your pillow will get dirty,” and even commented that I should change my bed sheets once a year. These kinds of remarks were unnecessary, judgmental, and felt very inappropriate in a professional setting.
I believe a hair salon should not only provide a good haircut but also treat customers with basic respect and kindness.

Out of the many salons I visited, this offers the poorest hair wash service.
I opted for the warm water to wash my hair, but the washer didn't even bother to test the water temperature and started with cold. omg, sending shivers down my spine. The washing took probably only 3 minutes, rush job.
Mind you, it's an additional $12 for the hair wash which I thought giving myself a treat to, but it's an absolute disappointment. I should not have agreed to the upsell.

Title: Very Disappointing Experience - Inattentive Service & Stained Clothing
I’m very upset to share an unpleasant experience I had at the Jean Yip Bishan (Junction 8) branch today, Friday, June 6th, around 5:30 PM.
I went for a haircut and scalp treatment. During the shampoo, the hairdresser (a trainee) clumsily spilled shampoo onto my forehead and into my eyes. Worse, she did not apologize. Instead, she blamed me for checking a message on my phone. She only used a hair towel to wipe it until I insisted she get tissues for me to clean my eye area. I was embarrassed and furious at her response. I controlled my emotions and reminded her it was her carelessness, especially as I’ve been a loyal Jean Yip customer for over 10 years with consistently good experiences.
Since she eventually apologized, I chose not to involve her supervisor at that point.
She proceeded with the scalp treatment, haircut, and another hair wash. After blow-drying and styling my hair, she finished without offering to show me the back view with a mirror – something I consider basic service. I had to request it. She showed me and said it was neat, which I agreed with at the time. I combed my hair, tied it up, thanked her, and left.( I believed that at that point of time, she actually saw the stains. As I was wearing a white top, i believed some of her colleagues must have seen it too when i walked passed them to make the payment)
I headed home happy to show my husband my new haircut. It was then he pointed out black stains around the neckline on the back of my white t-shirt. I was furious, knowing immediately it must have been the trainee. I called the branch immediately – not to escalate, but simply to ask that the trainee be honest and tell me if she knew she stained it. Despite the shampoo incident, I was still willing to forgive an honest mistake.
The staff member who answered kept insisting on taking my contact number "to speak to the trainee," even after I explained I was "the lady in white who just left."
I returned to the branch seeking an apology directly from the trainee. She repeatedly claimed she "did not see the stain" and "wasn't sure about it." Her supervisor also intervened, explaining it "wasn't on purpose" and offered to wash the stain off my shirt.
Overall: This was a deeply frustrating experience marked by the trainee's carelessness, lack of accountability, and failure to provide basic attentive service (like checking for stains or showing the back view). While the supervisor tried to manage the stain situation, the fundamental issues of responsibility and honesty were not adequately addressed. After more 10 years as a customer, this has severely damaged my trust in this branch. I will not be returning.

I've been going go my usual korean salon for all my hair styling needs. This time I need a quick fringe cut so I went to this Jean Yip because it's near my house. The auntie hair stylist not only didn't do a good job, she kept telling me that I had a short forehead and I shouldn't cut the fringe too short. But in the process of fixing her mistake, she made it even shorter!
At the end of the cut, she asked me where I was from and after I answered, she said "I can see that". I might be sensitive but the way she said that was really condescending.
The service quality is very disappointing for a big chain like Jean Yip!

Terrible experience from jean yip at junction 8. A hundred dollars for three people, two kids and one adult? That is ridiculous pricing. Left the salon feeling unsatisfied and insecure as they made me look so ugly. I wanted my fringe to be cut to my nose but they cut it to my eyes. I felt so bad of myself, and especially for a hundred bucks, this was not how I wanted to feel. Kids said that the hairstylist pulled her hair too hard and that it hurt a lot. Not recommended, and I'll never go again.

Decided to trim the fringe that has grown just past the eyebrow last month. Hairstylist suggested to let the fringe at the sides grow and just trim the centre portion. She said she will make it airier. In a few snips lasting about 5 seconds, she cut so much of the centre portion that there was an obvious gap in the middle. When I pointed to the gaping space, she said cos my hair oily so it looks like this. Fyi my fringe was not oily at all. She then just walk away.
Now my hair is perpetually middle parting no matter I part on the left or right. $15 for the worst fringe in my life. First time there and last time there.

Gave hairstylist, Dudu, a try and I was very pleased and impressed with her service and professionalism. Dudu was gentle with her handling and I like how she uses a person-centred approach for my hairstyling. I really like the hair style and the hair colour that she recommended for me. Throughout the session, it was a pleasant experience getting to know her. Dudu’s passion for hairstyling shone through her service. She was detail-oriented, ensuring that my hair was cut almost similar to the hair style that she had recommended for me. She also ensured that the hair dye was applied evenly to my hair and took the time to check and let it settle into my hair. Thanks Dudu for doing the extra waves for me at the end. Before and after photos of my hair have been attached below. 我对你的服务很满意!谢谢你!
Another hairstylist that is also patient and gentle with handling customer’s hair is Jackie. Jackie also attends to customer’s hair needs and would also give you his honest opinion as to which hairstyle and hair colour suits you.
Do give Dudu and Jackie a try if you’re considering visiting Bishan Jean Yip for your hair cut!

Stylist Shiyan helped to cut my hair into a very nice wolfcut. Even took the time and effort to style it nicely with a hair iron.

I am so delighted to see Jessica Tan in Bishan outlet today when I came for my rebonding, hair colour and hair treatment. I have known her since I was a customer of Jean Yip Bishan for 25+ years. She is still so meticulous and careful and patient with dealing with my ‘stubborn’ hair. I hope the management will keep Jessica in Bishan outlet as long as possible. To encourage her further, I signed up a colour/hair treatment for 20 sessions. Keep up the good work Jessica.

Had a hair cut, treatment, wash and blow dry and loved every second of it. The lady who put my treatment on gave me a fantastic massage and made me feel very relaxed. The lady who cut my hair did a fantastic job, as I wasn’t sure what I wanted. But she listened and cut it brilliantly. I felt very pampered and my hair is in brilliant condition after my treatment.
I usually take my son to this salon (he’s only 3 and hates getting his hair cut). They are always very patient and calm with him, taking their time and not getting cross when he moves lots!

I’ve been with them for years, Carol is my stylist. I like her professionalism. And the assistant Mei Rong and Grace Pang are very nice and detailed when doing the washing and coloring.
Lately they did Reno, which is nice BUT the chair is still the same old chair, super uncomfortable after sitting. I suggest that you should come out with some budget to Change the chairs in the salon, when we visit, at least 1.5hrs need to spend sitting on your uncomfortable chair. You may do a survey haha.

The staff were all attentive and knowledgeable, recommended the scalp treatment and protein damage control for my damaged hair. My hairdresser Sean was also very helpful with his advice on how to keep my hair strong and healthy. I loved the haircut he gave me as well :)
