I don't know where the staff learned customer service, but they were so rude! Two older staff members and a younger one literally acted like I was invisible, served people behind me, and were rude to my mum. Seriously, you all should do something about your staff performance.

Bought pandan, white lotus, yam, and matcha snow skin mooncakes. The yam paste snow skin was wet. The mooncake got stuck on the plastic tray, and the bottom skin peeled off as I lifted it. The pattern on the top of the mooncake couldn't be seen clearly, and it had condensation on it. Too sweet for me. First and last.

I pointed at the cake I requested, but gave me something else from the fridge, cold and hard like it had been in the fridge before CNY until now.

Here's the lightly edited review: I went to the J8 Branch at 6:45 PM today to make purchases at Bengawan Solo. I was about to make payment via Shopeepay, while the customer in front of me was also using Shopeepay. As most shops using Shopeepay result in a long queue of customers, I decided to step forward to scan the QR code first so that the cashier wouldn't have to wait when I passed her the payment. Instead of appreciating the effort to save her time, she shouted at me to queue up and not make payment until the customer in front of me did so. When I was about to make payment, the cashier then told me that only 1 phone and a maximum of 3 transactions could be used. I agreed that only 3 transactions could be made, as it was clearly stated in Shopee's T&C, but I told her that all the merchants I had visited did not have any issue using more than 1 phone to make payment, as it was not stated in the T&C. (To provide more context, I was not even making any split payment.) She then told me off and said that this was already stated in Shopee's T&C. I explained to her that it was not, as I was a regular Shopeepay user and just wanted to provide feedback that I had not faced any issue with any other vendor. Her colleague then stepped forward and attacked me, saying that it was in the T&C. She showed me a screenshot from a WhatsApp message, indicating that it was from the management. I told her that the T&C did not state anything about two phones, and I said to her that I respected Bengawan Solo's policy of not allowing two phones. However, I just wanted to highlight that the argument that it was in Shopee's T&C was flawed, and that it was Bengawan Solo's T&C. She then told me off again, stating that this was from the management. I then repeated myself, telling her that this was just feedback because other merchants did not have this clause. I really do not understand why the staff members cannot be more open to feedback and have to start shouting for no particular reason. A scene was being made, and people were staring inside the Bengawan Solo shop, which made me look so bad as two staff members were attacking one. In all due respect, if it is a policy, it is okay, but why not just say it nicely? Why resort to screaming and shouting? On a side note, I realized that the "dessert" I bought should have come with gula melaka, and the cashier didn't even give it to me, so I had to make a detour just to get it. (By then, there was no crowd after a scene had been formed.) I sincerely appreciate Bengawan Solo looking into this, as the staff members' actions were really unnecessary and uncalled for. I know that technological changes are a new thing, and staff members (especially older ones) may take time to adapt, but there is no need to shout back at customers on multiple occasions and refuse to take feedback openly.

Edited review: "The Swiss item we received is much smaller than the ones on display. I don't know if this was instructed by the company or if staff are trying to steal from the company. But it is definitely unethical, deceptive, and misrepresentative. Won't be buying anymore from you."

The service was extremely rude and reluctant, and full of attitude. I mistook the shop for closing at 10 pm instead of 9:30 pm, but we managed to finish the process before 9:30 pm. Their behavior was very unprofessional; stay away from them near closing time, otherwise you'll get barked at.

I always buy the butterfly-shaped kueh bangkit from Bengawan Solo every CNY, but I refuse to get it this year because the price increase is ridiculous. It now costs $25.50, when it used to be under $20 for the past few years. Even the Nyonya kueh price keeps going up, yet the kueh size has shrunk!

I'm a little late with this review. I bought their tapioca cake with grated orange coconut on top a few months ago. The coconut had turned sourish. I was surprised that they don't QC their product.

**January 30, 2024** This is $2.60. You can buy one vegetable and one meat dish with rice at S11 for $2.60 now. Every year, Bengawan always increases the prices of their items. Worst of all, look at the pathetic size. If you buy multiples, there's also no discounted rate. You buy doubles, the price is still double. Is the cost price really so high, or is the corporation greedy? When Polar Cake had to increase prices, they put up a notice to apologize for doing so. But they also conducted several buy-one-get-one-free promotions. For example, they would allow customers to buy buy-one-get-one-free vouchers (effectively 50% off) and allow redemption for two months. This is the last time I will buy from Bengawan. Too high class for normal people like me. I will use the money to buy ccp. Hope Bengawan can continue to prosper alone. **January 31, 2024** Swee Heng sells Swiss rolls, three for $2.40. Thick and even slices. Which business deserves support?
