Tried the Oktoberfest platter, it was alright. The pork trotter was served cold, meh. The mashed potatoes were nice though! But not sure it's worth $18.90++. Service wise, it was ok only too. Weekday dinner but the place was packed, maybe that's why.

Ordered the US Angus Beef steak but was disappointed—it tasted more like a boiled steak with some grill marks thrown on. Lacked flavour completely. The churros dip also missed the mark, reminding me of a cheap Nutella knockoff. That said, I did notice the pasta at another table looked pretty appetising. Maybe this place just isn’t meant for steak. Might give the pasta a shot if I ever pass by again.
Manager was friendly and polite.

Verdict
food
1. Oxtail meat is soft and full of flavour
2. Sausage and pork kunckle platter - meat is salty, dried ( seem fried for few time), serving portion is small even though food is pricier
3. Salmon and langsene . The cheese Layer langsene mix and sauté are weird . Taste are not uniform
Customer Service is poor can be improved
4. Dining not finish , waiter took away the culinary container and keep one side for new coming diners
An average dining experience with lack of customer satisfaction
Total dining fee about $80++

- Tables are close to each other. Can hear each others' conversation.
- Food quality and hygiene is not good.
- Ordering and payment is done by oneself. Yet there's (10% service charge) AND (b) an additional minimum 3% tip!

Here's an edited version of the review, focusing on grammar and readability while retaining the original meaning and sentiment:
**Verdict**
**Food:**
1. Oxtail meat was soft and full of flavour.
2. Sausage and pork knuckle platter: The meat was salty and dried (seemed fried multiple times), and the serving portion was small, especially considering the higher price.
3. Salmon and Langsane: The cheese layer, Langsane mix, and sauté were weird. The taste was not uniform.
**Customer Service:**
Customer service was poor and could be improved.
4. While we were still dining, a waiter took away our dishes and set them aside for new diners.
Overall, an average dining experience with a lack of customer satisfaction.
Total dining fee: about $80++

Good cafe food. Order was done online and the service speed was surprising fast. At abt 8min, food is served despite with a 90% table seat rate. Overall, very pleased. Maybe a little lighter in salt into your food will make it better.

Loved the oktoberfest platter especially the pork knuckle with the sauerkraut... totally a hit!!
Kid loved the truffle & pancetta risotto and Pancetta Carbonara linguine, both loved the creamy taste and the truffle is empowering the risotto that make you non stop.
The tater tots is crispy fried but sadly with too little sauce on it.

As one of the most enduring tenants at Bishan Junction 8, Ambush has cemented its place as a reliable choice for European-inspired cuisine. While the quality of its à la carte dishes is consistently commendable, the pricing can feel a bit steep for a casual mall setting. The real highlight, however, is their lunch set, which is remarkably well-priced and includes a complimentary drink or soup, offering fantastic value. This attractive deal understandably draws a significant crowd, so be prepared for a bustling atmosphere during peak lunch hours.

Nice but a little pricey.
Had the mushroom soup which came with a hot loaf of bread (see picture) and the Oktoberfest platter which has a good spread of sausages and pork knuckle meat.
Recommended if you want a decent place to talk and to impress your gf/bf if you’re paying.

First time try this restaurant as couple
If you’re in the mood for hearty Western fare with a focus on well-executed dishes, Ambush Western is worth a visit. Their menu offers a range of European-inspired classics, and the star of my meal was their Grilled Salmon.
The salmon was cooked to my liking, with a beautifully crispy skin and tender, flaky flesh. It was served with a creamy dill sauce that elevated the dish, complementing the natural flavors of the fish without overpowering it.
Service was efficient and friendly, and the casual, welcoming atmosphere made for an enjoyable dining experience. While the pricing is slightly above average for a casual eatery, the quality of the food justifies the cost.
Overall, Ambush Western delivers delicious, thoughtfully prepared dishes, with the Grilled Salmon being a standout recommendation. It’s a great spot for a casual yet satisfying meal.

Managed to walk-in on valentine's day and food was surprisingly good. Very generous portion and we kind of over ordered but managed to finish everything!
Loved the hazelnut cake too. Will revisit again.

Delicious. Value for money. Big portions. This restaurant has been here for so many years. The reason they survive is consistent quality.

I've visited Ambush at Bishan Junction 8 a couple of times and have had the chance to try different dishes. So far, none have disappointed, and my guests have always enjoyed the food as well.
This time, we had a delightful dinner on a weekday evening. I usually try to arrive before 7 pm to avoid the crowd. We ordered the Beef Ragout Mafaldine, Gorgonzola & Mushroom Gnocchi, chocolate lava cake, and Melaka crème brûlée, all for $63—and we finished every bit of it! We've also tried the salad and Lemon & Herb Chicken Thigh in the past, both of which were equally delicious.
One thing to note is that the small square tables are laid out quite closely to one another, which might not be ideal when the tables beside you are taken.
The restaurant is conveniently located directly above McDonald’s. You can take the escalators from there, entering from the entrance beside The Coffee Bean, and it's easier to find the restaurant in the corner.
