Yoshinoya at Junction 8 brings over a century of authentic Japanese gyudon expertise to Singapore's largest suburban mall, continuing a culinary tradition that began in Japan in 1899. Located within Junction 8's diverse dining landscape, this beloved Japanese fast food chain serves the Bishan community with its signature motto of 'Tasty, low-priced, and quick,' delivering consistent quality that has made Yoshinoya a global success story. Since entering the Singapore market in 1997, Yoshinoya has maintained its commitment to authentic flavors while adapting to local preferences, making it a trusted choice for both Japanese cuisine enthusiasts and families seeking reliable, affordable dining options.
The menu centers around Yoshinoya's legendary sliced beef simmered in a special century-old recipe of herbs and spices, served with sweet onions and vegetables over premium Japanese rice. Signature offerings include various gyudon sizes from .00 to 0.50, along with specialty variations like Kimchi Gyudon, Cheese Gyudon, and Ontama Gyudon that cater to diverse taste preferences. Additional options include chicken bowls, salmon and seafood bowls, combo meals, and popular sides like gyoza and edamame. All Yoshinoya locations in Singapore are Halal-certified by MUIS, ensuring accessibility for the country's diverse dining community while maintaining authentic Japanese preparation methods.
Strategically positioned within Junction 8's food wing with wheelchair and stroller accessibility, Yoshinoya provides convenient dining for shoppers, office workers, and families exploring the mall. The restaurant's location benefits from Junction 8's excellent connectivity to Bishan MRT station and comprehensive parking facilities, making it easily accessible for both quick meals and leisurely dining experiences. As one of 11 Yoshinoya locations across Singapore, the Junction 8 outlet continues the brand's legacy of delivering authentic Japanese comfort food in a fast-casual environment that respects both tradition and modern convenience.
My favourite food at Yoshinoya is Chicken Katsu. Usually I ordered the chicken katsu, the meat was tender and delicious but on 18/05/25, the meat was so dry, hard and salty. Not nice at all.

Food quality improved since I went couple years ago. Now changed to any unit within J8. Prices are a bit high for the food served. Service should improve. Food placed in trays were are mixed up. Some items in my order were put in the tray of my daughter's order and vice versa.

Cheese cake was a very small slice.
Beef is fatty. They did get my order wrong, beef bowl with egg had extra beef sauce while the bowl without egg didn't when it was meant to be the other way round.
Small thing though.
Ordering via the self help machine is fast and easy.

Busy outlet during peak hours but the food standard is still pretty acceptable. Portions are good and chicken cutlet is crispy when arrived. Yoshinoya is the ideal choice when I’m craving for Japanese curry rice and I’m glad they’re HALAL certified now. Order your food at the kiosk and collect when number is called on the screen. Decent dinner spot.

My first visit here since they become halal-certified. I had the salmon-beef combo; the food quality is good and I will want to come back to try the other items on the menu. It will probably be better if they replace the cucumber with japanese cucumber; it is tastier and more crunchy. It's also advisable to place the halal cert more prominently near the cashier counter becos that is where potential muslim customers will look when determining the store's halal status.

The renovated version is much better, with a bright, fresh and airy vibe. The food is excellent and of consistent quality. Highly recommend the popular beef. Yummmmmy!! Service 5/10.
Would recommend (: ❤️
* came during peak hours (lunchtime) on a Friday and it was quite empty.

Located on L1 at the end of J8 food wing doesn't make this place noticeable to those unfamiliar with this mall. However being on L1 makes it easy for wheelchair and stroller accessibility (see tip below).
As someone who's eaten Yoshinoya's beef bowls for many years in different countries, the Kimchi gyudon bowl is a change from other vegetable toppings. Kimchi isn't top grade quality but decent enough in taste and quantity, even for the small sized bowl. The beef slices have become saltier than usual, possibly due to the saltier sauce used. Perhaps a better quality gyudon sauce would reduce the salt level and avoid customers from risking developing hypertension!
Service is awkward to rate since it's via kiosk order. No interaction with human staff to warrant a higher rating. Even tray return is expected of customers, so service rating is pretty neutral here. At least the food was prepared fairly quick, though not at peak lunch time. Nice Japanese background music!

Loved their classic beef rice. Still the best I find even after they have updated their menu with more choices. Do come during their off peak hours cos when I ate during their off peak the beef rice has more gravy that makes the rice more flavourful.

Love the newly renovated feeling of the place. Cleaner, brighter and more pristine. Food is still okay but miss the choices last time. Absolutely love the new drink machine though. Free flow drinks with tons of choices like vanilla and lime Cola. Their strawberry cake is not bad too!
