Promised help unfulfilled, lack of support. After 25 years of marriage, I lost my beloved partner. I want to cut myself off from others and retreat into my shell, but I still approached them with hope, seeking support during a very difficult time. I didn't receive the level of support I needed, which is disappointing. Despite traveling a long distance to meet Paula, she didn't offer any support or dependable help, which is especially crucial during such a challenging time. I sent her messages asking for help; she promised to call but hasn't followed through. I received no message at all after our meeting. I was introduced to a Befriender who only reached out once, two weeks later. I feel like I might not meet their expectations because I'm not a wealthy widow capable of writing a large cheque and making a substantial donation. Happiness can be shared with everyone. But sadness can only be shared with people we trust. Be cautious before seeking help from any support group. You might end up pouring your heart and soul out to them, wasting your time, and humiliating yourself.
