Excellent service by the staff, delicious but very overpriced coffee ($7), and bad food. The fish and chips was dry and bland, and the prawn paste chicken with waffle was below average. But portion size is huge. The total bill for two people was $61.

We order takeaways from Grub fairly often, and the mains are usually yummy. Today, however, we were sad to see the gnocchi portion has shrunk in size. It's listed as a main; why are the portions appetizer-sized? We're already paying a fair amount; instead of downsizing the portions, increase the price of the dish. Still left hungry... Sad.

Here's the edited review: I had my first encounter with Grub Burger ๐Ÿ” several years back when they started at Bishan Park ๐Ÿ›. This was my second visit, but at their new location, Junction 8. (Opposite the MRT station ๐Ÿš‡) Restaurant: Nice setup. Spacious, bright ๐Ÿ”†, and clean ๐Ÿงผ. Everything you can hope for in a restaurant can be found here, except the setup is pretty small. It's not a very big area to accommodate many diners, so please make a reservation ๐Ÿ“. Cutlery ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ is clean, just like their tables and chairs. Service: Thumbs ๐Ÿ‘ up to the service team and a special shout ๐Ÿ“ฃ out to Adrian. Amazing service from them, amazing service from him ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธ. I made some changes to our reservations (my fault), and they were so accommodating, shifting the tables to meet our new settings. After that, the service was consistently good. Polite, friendly, and top-notch service. The downside? It's another scan-QR-code-and-self-order type of restaurant. It's the most common thing these days, and I reckon it's made possible with technology ๐Ÿ“ฒ, but it clearly takes away person-to-person ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿง’ communication skills. The recommendation of dishes ๐ŸŒฎ๐ŸŒญ๐Ÿ”, from the mains all the way to desserts ๐Ÿจโ˜•๏ธ, is no longer a possibility. Food: The generosity of the Mentaiko sauce is crazy! Thank you once again! I have never been to a restaurant that gave so much Mentaiko sauce, and it is appreciated. (See the pictures.) Food was fresh, portions were big, and they were all well-cooked. However, we found the beef ๐Ÿฅฉ in the Grub Cheeseburger and Truffle Mushroom Cheeseburger way too dry. It was a stark contrast to what I had many years ago, when they first started. The beef patty was almost bone dry, and perhaps this is an area to work on. It's not the doneness of the patty; it's just super dry. Otherwise, the fish ๐ŸŸ and chips ๐ŸŸ, Sakura Ebi With Prawn ๐Ÿค Pasta, Bacon ๐Ÿฅ“ Carbonara, Har Cheong Fried Chicken ๐Ÿ“ with Waffles ๐Ÿง‡, and salt ๐Ÿง‚ & pepper calamari ๐Ÿฆ‘ all came out pretty good ๐Ÿ‘. Overall, it's a pretty chill place to have a meal and a good catch-up. I love that they have Root Beer Float ๐Ÿฅค!

A Pleasant First Visit to Grub - Junction 8 Branch My wife and I had dinner at Grub - Junction 8 Branch for the very first time, and while the overall experience was enjoyable, there were some mixed moments worth noting. We spent about $70+ on our meal, which was reasonable for the quality of food and service offered. I'd confidently rate this experience 4 out of 5 stars. **What We Loved** We started with the Korean Fried Chicken Bites, which immediately set the bar high. Both of us were impressed by how well it was preparedโ€”the crispiness was perfect, and the spiciness was spot on. It was an addictive appetizer that we'd gladly order again. For drinks, I opted for the Rose Gold Latte, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. The coffee was clearly crafted with care, striking a beautiful balance between richness and sweetness. It wasn't overly sweet, which allowed the coffee's natural flavors to shine throughโ€”a perfect choice for coffee lovers. **Room for Improvement** My wife chose the Sakura Ebi with Prawns Pasta as her main dish, and unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. The pasta was bland, lacking the depth of flavor we anticipated. In the end, we had to add chili sauce ourselves to make it more palatable, which was a bit disappointing given the price point. As for me, I tried the Chili Crab Pasta with Breaded Fish. The breaded fish was a highlight of the dishโ€”crispy, fresh, and definitely not made from the usual dory fillet, which I appreciated. The Chili Crab sauce, however, came with an unexpected punch of spice that was a little overwhelming. While I enjoyed the overall dish, I'd have preferred a milder spice level to better savor the flavors. **Exceptional Service** What truly stood out during our visit was the impeccable service. The staff were incredibly attentive, always keeping an eye on patrons' needs. We never had to raise our hands or wait long for assistanceโ€”they were prompt, polite, and professional. This level of service is rare and deserves high praise. **Ambience and Environment** The restaurant was bustling with activity, and while the lively atmosphere added to the charm for some, it did make the environment quite loud. The sound of conversations filled the space, making it hard to fully relax. It's something to consider if you're looking for a quieter dining experience. **Final Thoughts** Overall, Grub - Junction 8 left us with a good impression despite a few hiccups. The Korean Fried Chicken Bites and Rose Gold Latte were outstanding, and the service was top-notch. However, I do hope the Sakura Ebi with Prawns Pasta sees a revamp in its sauce or preparation in the future. I look forward to revisiting and exploring more of their menu, especially if they address some of the flavor shortcomings.

The place isn't big, and the outdoor seating is too hot for a sunny day! So, take note if you are in a group. The finger food is not bad, I would say. I tried both their draught beers, and they were nice and chilled! Service is prompt and helpful. It's located just outside Bishan MRT station, on Level 1 of Junction 8.

Conveniently located just outside the MRT, we opted for the outdoor seating as the indoor area was fully occupied. The menu offered a wide variety of food choices. I tried the waffles and chicken. While the waffles were slightly overcooked for my liking and the chicken lacked a bit of flavor, the dish wasn't too bad overall. The fish and chips stood out with their unique frying style and presentation. The coffee was smooth with a subtle hint of bitterness, perfectly matching my taste preferences.

Grubโ€™s always been a fave โ€” from their Har Cheong Gai Waffles and cheesecake back then to the Har Cheong Gai Burger today. Different dish, same comfort. Still hits the spot every time.

Grub offers a nice range of comfort food with a modern twist, but the experience can be a bit hit-or-miss depending on what you order. The bacon carbonara is definitely a standoutโ€”creamy, flavorful, and well-balanced. The sauce is rich without being too heavy, and the bacon adds just the right amount of saltiness and texture. Itโ€™s easily the highlight of the meal. On the other hand, the truffle burger was underwhelming. While the truffle aroma was present, the patty was slightly burnt, which affected the overall flavor. It didnโ€™t quite live up to expectations, especially at the price point. Speaking of which, the food is a bit pricey for what you get. Itโ€™s not unreasonable, but for casual fare, you might expect a bit more polish or consistency. Overall, it's worth checking outโ€”especially for the pastaโ€”but thereโ€™s room for improvement. --- Ratings Summary: Food: โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† (4/5) โ€“ great carbonara, average burger Flavor: โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† (4/5) Presentation: โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† (4/5) Value for Money: โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†โ˜† (3/5) โ€“ a little on the expensive side Ambience: โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† (4/5) โ€“ casual, comfortable vibe Service: โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† (4/5) โ€“ generally pleasant and efficient
