My go-to for comfort noodle soup. Soup base is tasty and the texture of the noodles is very chewy. We love the service here from the friendly staff, especially David. He’s always around to check on the customers. It's a very pleasant place to dine.

Best eaten when served hot 😂
When the sides were served, we were still eating our mixian (which I enjoyed a lot)! But the sides (tufei chicken and chongqing chicken) weren’t that great to me, might be because they got cold quickly.
Someone else ordered the original tangy tomato, and I found that base nicer than mine. Nevertheless, the low-spice tomato base I got was quite addicting – I didn't realize I'd finished my bowl with extra noodles until it was empty (yes, there is an option for more or less noodles) 😂. There are also some options available to add on toppings to your noodles.
The milk tea was alright.
We got the duo combo, which was okay: 2 mixian noodles, 2 sides, and 2 drinks for $38 before GST and service charge, if I remember correctly.

The food is great. My girls love their tomato soup with noodles. I love their side dishes. The price is reasonable, and the food is tasty!

Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience there.

I am a regular at TamJai SamGor Mixian since they opened at Junction 8 Bishan. The casual diner offers food that is tasty, generously portioned, and affordable. TamJai SamGor has a weekday lunch value set that is a great deal! What keeps me coming back every week is David, a kind and hardworking uncle who is a beacon of excellent service for all F&B outlets in Singapore. Not only is he efficient in his work, he is always friendly and helpful, even during peak hours. The best part about David is that he takes the extra effort to remember what regular customers like me prefer to drink. Thank you, Uncle David, for your EXCELLENT SERVICE! 🥰👍👍👍 Hope you stay healthy! 💪

Was served by a lady with a high bun. She displayed genuine sincerity and friendliness in her approach to customers. I would love to visit again. However, the cramped seating arrangement and the warm atmosphere, even though fans were installed around, made it rather uncomfortable to dine in.

My First Visit to Tamjai Samgor at Bishan – A Special Mention for Exceptional Service
This was my first time trying Tamjai Samgor at Bishan, and before I even get to rating the food, I must highlight the outstanding service provided by one of the crew members, David.
From the moment my sister and I were standing outside the shop, David approached us and patiently explained the ordering system. What stood out was that his helpfulness didn’t stop with us; he was constantly moving in and out of the restaurant, attentively checking on every customer's needs.
He took the time to ask customers if the food was too spicy or suited their taste, and even offered cups of water to those who didn’t order drinks—something rare these days, especially when many places would rather charge.
David's genuine attentiveness, proactive attitude, and excellent customer care truly deserve recognition. In a time when good service can be hard to come by, he really sets a high standard. I sincerely hope the management considers awarding him – he’s a gem of a service staff member.

Went to try their new limited bowl called Gym Gym Bowl. The protein portion is a lot, just as promised! It's served with konjac noodles; it's chewy and quite special. 3 different protein options to choose from; I got the chicken + beef, with tomato soup and level 3 spicy. Perfect for a guilt-free meal 😋😋👍🏻

The venue feels warm and crowded with customers. I ordered the new dry chili noodle but initially asked for Maggi noodles; however, it was served with Mixian instead. I decided to just eat it anyway. The dish required thorough stirring, but the overall flavor balance was off. After finishing the noodles, I noticed the ikan bilis remained at the bottom, and eating them individually was quite salty. The pork lard wasn’t to my taste; one bite released an overwhelming amount of oil. The soup lacked flavor and wasn’t served hot. As for the beef noodle, it was fairly average.

Food standards have dropped so drastically it does not taste like it did in its early years.
The meat in the noodles is not properly treated, with so much hair, and the eggplant side dish has too much oil. The eggplant looks “old” and discolored.

Here's the edited review:
Ordered SG Favorite for $13.80++, which translates to $16.50. Comes with pork, taopok, and minced meat. I got "extra hot," which was misleading since the Chinese description indicated "little spice" and that this was the original spice level.
Anyway, it was more spicy than average xiao la, and numbing. So the English description seems to be the most accurate. Pork was very tender. Taopok soaked up the mala soup.
Regarding the minced meat, I felt like I should have added the soup into it rather than the meat into the soup. Taste-wise, it definitely could be addictive, but a bit one-dimensional. If there were some sauce, it would be good? Or am I supposed to dip into the minced meat?
It really depends on how you look at it. It is a lot more expensive than other noodles, but at the same time, it is slightly cheaper than mala by weight.
