Junction 8 Playground Gets Vibrant New Mural by Raffles Students
The playground at Junction 8 has undergone a colourful transformation, thanks to a collaborative mural project by students from Raffles Girls' School (established 1879) Art Club and Raffles Institution's Art Elective Programme. The students, together with their teachers, painted the vibrant mural that now brightens the playground area near Bishan MRT Station.
Mural Details and Features
The mural features a series of playful cartoon characters and food-themed illustrations, including a smiling cat, a burger, a sandwich, and a popcorn box labelled "POPcorn MOVIE". A prominent "JUNCTION" logo and a rainbow graphic with a "BISHAN" sign tie the artwork to its location. The playground surface consists of blue rubberised flooring with green grass-like patches, creating a welcoming public plaza space for families visiting the mall.
Junction 8 invites shoppers and residents to visit the refreshed playground and view the students' artwork up close. The mural adds a community-focused artistic element to the mall's outdoor space, showcasing the creative talents of local students.
